The Dog Wash Guidelines
BeFORe CLASS
- Dogs must be current on vaccinations. Please bring vaccination records or titer documentation of immunity to your first class.
- Dogs that are aggressive towards people or other pets must be evaluated by the trainer before attending class.
- All dogs must come equipped with a 4- to 6-foot leash (no flex or retractable leads) and a proper fitting collar from which they cannot escape.
The Dog Wash is on a very busy road. Please use common sense—and a leash—when transporting your dog to and from the car.
duRING PeT & OWNeR TRAINING CLASSeS
- All dogs must be on a leash at all times, unless otherwise requested by the instructor.
- No dog should ever be left unattended.
- Listen carefully for homework assignments, and set goals for achievement.
AFTeR CLASS
- For best results, new training skills must be practiced routinely at home. Do your homework.
- During the excitement of training your dog may experience a rise in heart rate and blood pressure, which results in panting and thirst. Even so, it is important to only give your dog small amounts of water*, until he/she settles down.
* Gulping large quantities of water or inhaling food may create susceptibility to diarrhea, vomiting, or bloat.
NOTE: Instructors determine dog-readiness for graduation from one level of training to another. Instructors may discuss your dog’s progress with you individually.
